Pull Me Under from Images and Words (1992) Information: Pull Me Under was originally suspected to be based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. The second verse of Pull Me Under has many similarities to Hamlet's famous soliloquy about the conflict in his mind. However, later it was noted that the song was written about similar ideas to Hamlet, but it was based on something else entirely. There are two guesses as to why Pull Me Under suddenly stops in the middle of music. One says that death is sudden and can take you by surprise and that is what the ending of the song symbolizes. The other hypothesis says that it was inspired by Abbey Road Side A ending and as the melodies are building up, the carpet is pulled out from under you.
