Images and Words (and Ads)
posted by: xtraverse on 7.12.07

So if you don't have an adblocker, you may have noticed that I added those amazing Google text ads. Oh well, I don't like paying for hosting. In other news, Dream Theater is playing Images and Words in full in 15 different cities in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the album. They've already done it in a bunch of European cities in their most recent run.

posted by: xtraverse on 7.03.07

So I know I'm a little late, but I've finally updated the site with details about the new album. The song and album polls have been reset to allow voting with the new music.

Also, a biography of Dream Theater is being released, compiled by Rich Wilson. It looks like a great coffee table candidate, go here to preorder it.

Dream Theater just announced that they have signed with Roadrunner Records and have a new album in the works, titled "Systematic Chaos," which is due out June 7th. It is said to feature seven compositions, one being a 25-minute epic. Dream Theater will also be headlining the Gods of Metal festival in Italy this year, and more touring plans are rumored to be announced soon. Read the full press release here.

The second set they revealed an orchestra and played the entire Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence suite, and continued on into Vacant, The Answer Lies Within, Sacrificed Sons, Octavarium, and Metropolis as an encore. Check out the entire setlist.

Redesign and Octavarium Analysis

I've redesigned the site, as the white was getting pretty bland. I've also added an album analysis section that has an in depth study of Octavarium. You can see it here.

Stage Play and Dream Theater Marathon
posted by: xtraverse on 8.10.05

Interesting stuff coming from fans of Dream Theater. Long-time fan Danni Segal has adapted the concept album Scenes From a Memory into a full length stage play to be performed this November in East Sussex. Note that this is a prose play, not a performance of the music. See more information at From The Bats' website.

The progressive rock radio station Delicious Agony will be airing their second annual 48-hour DT marathon starting on August 19th at 7PM EST.

"For 48 hours we will suspend our regular progressive rock programming and play on Dream Theater and related projects. You will hear the music of Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment, Transatlantic, OSI, Yellow Matter Custard, Explorer's Club, Jelly Jam, Platypus, and many more projects. Plus, we will also throw in some music from former band members Derek Sherinian (solo work and Planet X) and Kevin Moore (solo work and Chroma Key).

We are also please to announce interviews with James LaBrie, Jordan Rudess and John Petrucci. It is going to be a great weekend. So please come and be a part of the Second Annual Dream Theater Marathon, only on Delicious Agony Progressive Rock Radio."
